NITROUS OXIDE – (LAUGHING GAS) AT ISMILE DENTAL
For some of our patients, visiting the dentist office can provoke anxiety. Even though our dentists have skilled and gentle hands and work in a state of the art facility with sterilized equipment, dental treatment can make some patients uneasy.
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a sweet-smelling, non-irritating, colorless gas which you can breathe. Nitrous oxide puts patients in a completely relaxed – yet responsive – state and has been been the primary means of sedation in dentistry for many years.
A local anesthetic will be administered in combination with nitrous oxide to eliminate pain. Nitrous oxide eliminates any nervousness or discomfort, and makes treatment seem to pass more quickly.
